GUY THORNTON

Guy Thornton was born and raised in London, England. He completed his architectural training at the University of Sheffield, receiving both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Architecture.

In 1981, he relocated to the United States and maintains registration as an Architect in the State of Colorado and the United Kingdom as well as holding NCARB certification. In addition to forming Guy Thornton Design over 20 years ago, Guy has held tenure with several design firms and been involved with numerous prestigious projects including the Gramercy Park Hotel and Madison Square Garden renovations in NYC.

Bringing a strong multi-disciplinary design approach to problem solving, Guy has over 30 years of diverse experience that includes hospitality, historic renovation, restaurant, retail, corporate and residential projects.

PHILOSOPHY

The design firm is rooted in the principle of creating value through quality design solutions that encompass a high degree of practicality and budget sensitivity. Vision, simplicity and originality are central tenets along with the power of the unexpected resulting in enduring, engaging and intriguing solutions. Lighting forms an intrinsic part of the process.

  • Guy currently has a consulting role as Owner's Design Representative for a new Ian Schrager Company project in NYC. Designed by Herzog & de Meuron, comprising 58 residential units and currently under construction, 160 Leroy Street is scheduled for completion in 2018.

  • The historic Mayfair Hotel in St. Louis, MO has been transformed into a 185 room Magnolia Hotel.
